EDIT: Alright, I might as well get this out of the way because a lot of people seem to be misinformed (myself previously included, apologies):

1. Apple didn't play a part in the scene changes. They only distribute the episode, they don't have that sort of authority. I feel there is a lot of hate harboured towards Apple for something they weren't responsible for.

2. Derpy's eyes are still crossed throughout the scene; they are just less exaggerated at times, probably for the sake of character readability.

3. The voice change was inevitable; I'm sure some of you know Tabitha originally voiced Derpy thinking she was male. It was an inherent mistake that was bound to be corrected.

So it's really just the absence of Derpy's name. But seeing as how the animators have already stated that she is here to stay, there is no need to be devastated by the changes iTunes made. Please don't go around firing hate and complaints around, things will work out. Thanks.

^{Er, no. Technically, Ditzy was missing in WWU, and Derpy was there - therefore, they aren't the same pony. ;D}

False. Ditzy Doo was never a given name, but a speculated one based on the words of Faust. Derpy was officially assigned in a pulled version of an episode and used by the show's creators.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read an interview somewhere where Amy Keating Rogers, the writer of the episode, stated that in her script she had originally used the name Ditzy Doo, but was told to change it to Derpy in tribute to the fans.

It was, in my opinion, a well intentioned mistake. If originally Dash used the dame Ditzy, or didn't name her at all, then there wouldn't have been nearly as much controversy. That, combined with the accidental voice acting gender-bender means that the event went as badly as possible.

I recall in that interview that the circumstances called for an arbitrary clumsy pony, but was later changed to Derpy for a shout out. Whether or not that was Ditzy, I don't remember. I think using Ditzy would have caused an even greater controversy, since people would be upset with her newly canonized name.

In any case, I had no problem with the scene, both before and after the edited scene. It was made too much of a big deal, IMO.
